Getting Started

Every one of our regular drivers started as a visitor, so yes, visitors are always welcome!

If you have never raced before, come and meet us, feel free to look around, watch the racing and have a chat.

It is required that you book in advance to race, but exceptions can sometimes be made if it’s your first visit.

Bring your car and gear, and let race control know you want to race. They will take your details and add you to the meeting. Please note that we can not book you in once racing commences.

Alternatively, contact one of the committee members (you’ll find them on the contact us page) and they will help with any information you need.

Where, when & how much?

We race alternate Friday evenings at Kemnal Technology College in Sidcup, Kent.

There is no additional cost to become a member of SRCC. You simply pay for the race classes you want to enter!

It costs £10 per driver per class to race at the SRCC Meetings. If you want to race in two classes, a discount is given for the 2nd class of £5.

You are allowed to attend 3 meetings without a BRCA licence (this should give you enough time to see if you want to commit), but you must have a race licence from BRCA to continue racing after your third meeting. BRCA annual membership is £30 for adults & £15 for juniors ( U16).

Meetings are held inside a large school sports hall where we race on ETS high-grip carpet with Slidelogy track kerbs.

We have a limited number of loan-out transponders for those who don’t have their own.

There is a pit area alongside the track, and mains electricity is available (bring an extension lead).

Tables are limited, so we highly recommend that you bring your own.

As we are on school grounds, smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited.

We are also lucky enough to have a tuck shop available during most meetings. It’s cash only, so please bring some small change.

We have a supply of Battcave spares available to purchase trackside.

Info for newcomers to the hobby

The club uses transponders. These are small boxes usually attached to your car’s body shell.

When your car passes over the timing loop, the transponder sends a signal to the timing computer and your lap is counted.

If you do not put a transponder on your car, then your laps will not be counted.

We have several loan-out transponders for those who don’t have their own.

If you don’t have a hole in your body shell for a transponder, don’t panic; we can make one for you.
